i've been FRAMED: the plotting post!
Sign-ups for the little player plot I'm running are closed, and so now I've got some details for you all!
It's important to note that this will have game-wide effects for the duration of the plot (the 16th to 23rd) so even if you don't plan on getting involved, please read at least the first section below the cut if you plan to do anything around Silverglen Retreat during those dates. Thanks!
How does this affect you, the regular player?
If you're in the Red or Green Dragonflights, the elves are unfriendly. They're fearful and standoffish, if not outright hostile. You may have trouble entering Silverglen without a chaperone from a flight who is in good standing.
If you're in the Blue Dragonflight, then congratulations! The elves hate you and will attack you on sight with what few warriors they have to try and shoo you away. You can put 100% of the blame on Yugo for this one. 8)
If you're in the Bronze or Black Dragonflights, you're pretty much good to go! Since you're the only dragonsworn allies the village has, you might even be begged to drive away people from the other more-hated flights if they get too close for comfort. Revel in your newfound celebrity status! Just... Maybe don't get used to it.
If asked about why they've had a sudden change of opinion, the elves will be honest: they'll tell you that one of your allies has committed some crime that's put your entire flight's standing in question. They'll be able to recount in detail what they did and even be able to bring out evidence-- but if asked about exactly when the incidents occurred or if an eyewitness is asked after, they'll only be able to give a confused, vague answer before changing the subject. Almost as if these are false memories, know what I'm saying?!
What if you're one of the nerds that's been framed?
Then you've got a fun weekend in store! These four will be particularly and obviously feared or hated; the villagers will call them out and go out of their way to avoid or attack them (depending on what their overall flight standing is.) I've designated their "crimes" here for you guys, but if either of you guys have something else in mind feel more than free to ask me to change the accusation!
Zelos Wilder for wantonly killing stags in the forests around Silverglen. The bodies were left where they were slain, unused and wasted.
Jacques is accused of using using villagers to practice his Greensworn slumber mist (traces of a sleeping poison made from common herbs around the Retreat might be found in the well, however...)
Yugo is wanted for drawing stupid faces on all of the villagers while they were sleeping. Most of them will still have the ink marks on their faces to prove it.
Zelda for holding people up while they're out gathering herbs and torturing them with her ocarina music. If pressed about it, they'll only remember one tune.
So how's a dragonsworn to redeem himself?
With good old fashioned rep grinding, that's how... But luckily this grind only lasts one quest!
If any of these four manage to get a villager to talk to them reasonably, they'll be up-front with their accusations but most of them will have the stories second or third-hand. Any decent investigation will eventually lead to a guard named Ysiel, who appears to be the chief accuser. She will be strangely insistent on her stories, even in spite of any contradicting evidence or prior good relations with your character's flight; like the others, she'll be able to provide her own evidence and describe the crimes in great detail, but she'll be oddly fuzzy on the time during which they occurred, and hard-pressed to come up with more than two or three other firsthand "witnesses."
But if she's successfully appealed to, she'll give your character one chance to truly prove their goodwill. Their mission, if they choose to accept it, is to clear out a local barrow den that's been overrun by furbolgs. The traditionally-docile bear men have suddenly gone wild and rampant, and are now a danger to Silverglen Retreat and their minimal military presence.
Furbolgs are like 8 feet tall and basically made of claws, so clearly the night elves aren't expecting much of a lone dragonsworn. The same task will be given to all the accused (Ysiel's kind of gonna assume that no one'll be able to complete it) so they may find it beneficial to temporarily look past their faction differences and team up...
How is this going to work?
I'll be putting up two logs on the 16th: one set in the village and one in the barrow den. These will both cover the 16th-23rd.
The village log can be used as a catch-all for all flights to deal with any sudden changes in reputation they've received, as well as for the accused to do any investigative work if they can manage. There'll be things besides pissed off elves going on for the people who aren't involved, not to worry.
The barrow den log can be used for the four accused to fight scary bear people if they so choose. As of now, the log will be locked to the four characters who signed up for the plot, but let me know if there's good reason for someone else to join (if one of the accused specifically asks someone else to come along and help, for example) and that can change!
On the 24th after the event is over, I'll put up a post detailing any (mod-decided) final changes in flight standing that come of character actions, as well as any extra rewards that the participating furbolg-slayers get for slaying furbolgs.
You're all free to use this post to plot amongst yourselves, ask me questions, tell me to clarify something, suggest anything, etc. Cheers and happy plotting!

Yugo will definitely be hitting Naminé up for help. |D If at all possible, he'll be trying to clear up misunderstandings, and he'll definitely be jumping into the barrow dens later.

This has the added side-effect of him being able to act as a liaison between the elves and anyone from the more-hated flights just in case any of the accused needs an OOC excuse to be able to speak to Ysiel or w/e. I'll mostly use him to facilitate you guys' interactions. :)

What happened to cherishing all life, being a huge Red flight hippie, etc?

Might have to reconsider Red's placement on the list of flights in order of most to least assholish.

Namine's definitely going to be exploring Silverglen during this time, and being a Bronze, she's not going to have any issues. So if anyone wants a chaperone, mediator, whatever you want a Bronze to do, I'll totally be up for it.

This is a wonderful plot and I'm really excited to see how it plays out. Zelda's not going to be too eager to fight a bunch of manbears so maybe she can recruit people to help her? '-' If... anyone was eager to go clean out a den.
(You think she'd try to talk her way out of it, but no, she would do the right thing............)

or conversation in general. So he'd tag along since doing something to prove themselves seems easier than talking it out, even if possibly finding proof that he was framed.no subject
And likely get mauled for it as a result.
